Kroger was founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1883 by Bernard Kroger. Then in the 1930’s, Kroger was the first supermarket to have parking lots on all four sides of the building. In the 1980, Kroger purchased Dillon Company and all its subsidiaries, making it America’s largest grocery store chain and its second-largest grocery retailer by volume. In addition, it is the second largest general retailer in the country, with Wal-Mart being the largest. Today, the once small and unknown grocery store now has, either directly or through its subsidiaries, a total of 3,619 stores.
Today, Kroger shoppers can also purchase gasoline, pick up their prescriptions, select elegant baskets of baked goods and specialty items and many other products. Kroger coupons are readily available by going to the Kroger website. Not only can you load your Kroger card with up to 150 national brand and Kroger coupons, but you will find the weekly specials, recipes, tips for green living and much more.
